Captain's Log: Stardate 10809.3
The Giants won! Unbelievable! New York is a buzz with conversations and celebrations surrounding the Super Bowl XLII victory. Even listening to the radio on the way to work this morning, Q104.3, today called Blue104.3, was playing Three Dog Night's (not to be confused with One Dog Man's) "Eli's Coming". Take that New England! -- Especially after they went through the hassle of submitting applications to trademark the term "19-0". I guess "18-1" doesn't have the same ring to it. Sounds good to me.

Last night, I hosted a small Super Bowl party in my new Captain's Quarters in Yonkers with Captain Dave, Lt. Jonathan, Ensign Zoraida and Ensign Ellen in attendance. I got to show off my new digs and we all marveled at the 65" HDTV picture, which although made the game more clear with sharper colors, perhaps was a little too crisp and clear during the half-time show featuring Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers (or is it now "Hipbreakers"? Or "Pacemakers"?) Tom Petty does not belong in HDTV. Yeesh! Talk about a face for radio.

Congratulations to Fox Television for a superb broadcasting job, except maybe for Joe Buck's very Maddenesque commentary of stating the totally obvious when he announced that the Giant's strategy this year was to avoid injury. Really? Do you think they also strategized to score points?

This year, we are going to have a clear strategy to avoid injuries on the boat and to sail fast. So that's what we've been doing wrong…

During breaks, and between funny commercials (The E-Trade baby was a clear favorite,) we caught up a bit and Zoraida pushed the idea of the next Enterprise get-together – a Turkish Bath House in New York City frequented by fat old hairy men where you can get massaged, whipped by a branch, get hot and steamy, and then finish off with a facial. Sounds like something that should be starring Ron Jeremy.

Great seeing everyone – and thanks for your understating with boxes around and "slumming it" without the Bose 5.1 surround sound. Racing starts in 3 months! Work parties start in 2!
