Captain's Log: Stardate 11219.9
Aside from the first October snowstorm since the Civil War, the winter here in the Northeast has been very, very nice -- and all I can say, if this is global warming, then sign me up. From now on, in my spare time, you can find me pointing aerosol cans towards the ozone and spraying away! And please, let's not talk about the plight of arctic wildlife. If a few polar bears and penguins have to die so I don't have to shovel out my car in 10 below, then so be it.

But, I'm also well aware that we're not out of the woods just yet. Yes, it's 67 out and sunny, but Old Man Winter and Mother Nature could still slap us with a bitch fest before its all over. It was just a few years ago when I got stuck in Denver because of snow on St. Patrick's Day. Not there. There it was 70 and sunny -- I met John Elway on a golf course. No, it was here that was buried in snow and experiencing the media outlets' now overused term: "Snowmageddon"

Still, racing starts in eight weeks and I find myself in preparation mode to get the Enterprise out of space dock and back to the waters of Eastchester Bay. You know, to boldly go . . .

So I have my list of upgrades and work lists, and I patiently await the annual Defender Warehouse Sale so I can save a buck or two on bottom paint. The officers and crew of the Enterprise have been called back to duty but we're clearly short a few due to travel plans, work commitments and other reasons.

So now, the call is out for anyone interested in pulling lines, sitting on rails, learning racing, and helping to keep the galaxy safe from the Klingons, the Romulans and the Jeep Califanos out there in our final frontier. Enlist in Starfleet!

Seriously, if you're local, want to learn, can commit and have fun, we really could use a couple of crew. Use the "Email the Captain" link on the right and give us your story. Our Wednesday Night racing is a blast -- nothing like sailing a boat, pulling maneuvers and bettering our skills while the sun sets over the skyline of the greatest city in the world.

Work parties start in a month to make the Enterprise better than ever.
